OUR RAW, SPECIES APPROPRIATE DIET
We began feeding a raw diet in 2009 when Wheeler developed a recurring staph infection. Weeks of Antibiotics and medicated baths 3 times a week, it would clear up only to return a week to 10 days after the antibiotics were stopped. Not wanting to keep him on antibiotics indefinitely, I decided to try a Raw Diet. Within a week the staph infection had cleared up, never to return and the benefits of a beautiful, shiny coat, no doggie odor, no doggie breath, no stinky farts, small poops that didn't smell and overall vitality and health convinced me. I have never looked back.
Added Benefits - I have a 9 year old dog that has NEVER been sick, not once, not ever. My other, younger dogs have NEVER been sick either! My dogs have NO Allergies, I have had NO cases of Juvenile Thyroid issues (fairly common in the past with my kibble fed dogs), Shiny White Clean teeth with NO Dentals needed, ever! Thus far NO Cancer in my dogs (cancer is very common in Dobermans, even young dogs).
All of our dogs eat an entirely raw, species appropriate diet. Our puppies are weaned to this same raw diet, consisting of roughly 80% Meat, 10% Bone and 10% Organ. We do add a few fruits (mostly berries) and some Veggies now and again, but more as treats than part of their diet.
A raw diet fed correctly, is a complete diet, providing all the necessary nutrients, vitamins, minerals, etc. and provides a perfect calcium/phosporous ration of 1:1.
Our raw diet breakdown:
80% Muscle Meat (this includes heart) - Variety is important, so all are incorporated into the diet over time; Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Quail, Venison, Goat, Turkey, Rabbit, Fish, Pork, Goose, Buffalo and even odd meats such as; Ostrich, Emu, Muskrat. Most any non- carnivore meat we can get our hands on. We feed most parts and pieces; leg/body meat, heart, tail, ears, tongue, stomach (tripe), everything except intestines.
10% Edible Bone - this includes Chicken Bone, Rabbit Bone, rib bones from Beef, Pork, Deer, Lamb, Chicken Feet, Duck Feet, Rabbit Feet, Turkey Necks, Tails from Cows, Goats, Lambs, etc.
10% Organ - Half (5%) of which is Liver the other half (5%) is Kidney, Pancreas, Testicles, or Spleen.
Chicken Foot, Fish, Tripe, Rabbit, Beef Heart, Ground Venison, Liver, Kidney
We always recommend an all natural, raw diet. However, if you are unable to feed a raw diet and must feed kibble instead we require that you feed Life's Abundance All LIfe Stages Kibble, to keep your health warranty in effect. This is a premium kibble, mfg in the U.S. with all U.S. sourced ingredients. Made in small batches, nothing sits on the shelf for more than 4-6 weeks! The Life's Abundance Company has NEVER had a recall!
